My boiler has started to leak from one of the welds. I do not understand why this has happened after only 18 years. Was this a faulty boiler? Most steel boilers have a manufacturers target life of only 20 years. Steel is susceptible to rust, more so if the boiler has had poor yearly maintenance or small external leaks that were not repaired promptly. 18 years may be a little early for a weld leak but this condition is not unusual. Unfortunately repairing steel boilers is not easy and a replacement may be necessary. |
